Latest Updates:

Kenosis and the World Free Web
http://freshmeat.net/articles/view/1440

Four years ago, I wrote an article for freshmeat called "The World Free
Web" in which I described a way to make Web content available in a
distributed and anonymous way via Freenet. Back then, I expected, as
did many others, that Freenet was on the verge of completion, and all
that remained was to think of interesting new applications to write on
this new platform.

Adcd is a text mode CD player for Linux. It features all the functions
expected in a compact disc player, including playing selected tracks,

to use.

ARSC Really Simple Chat 3.0-rc1
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184045/

ARSC Really Simple Chat is a Web chat system that uses PHP and MySQL.
It works with every browser in existence, even text-based ones, and it
uses the server push technique or, if possible, its own socket server.
It is very simple to install and use ARSC. It includes some important
features, such as operators, kick-ing, whispering, and more. Multiple
rooms and different languages are available. To run ARSC on your site,
you need a Web server that understands PHP, and can connect to a MySQL
database.

C++ Regex Engine 0.03a
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184011/

C++ Regex Engine provides a robust regular expression library for use
in C++. The syntax of the regular expression language is very close to
the Perl 5 standard. The classes given somewhat mirror those found in
Java's regular expression library, but have several improvements. The
intended audience of this package is anyone who does a lot of data
parsing (e.g. sysadmins), people tired of trying to decipher Perl
scripts, and regular expression beginners who know C++. Some knowledge
of the STL's vector and string will come in handy, but isn't necessary.

cbviewer is a viewer for comic book archives in .zip, .rar, .cbz, and
.cbr formats.

CGI:IRC 0.5.5 (Stable)
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184047/

CGI:IRC is a Perl/CGI program that allows you to use IRC from a Web
browser without having to have access to an IRC port. It does not use
Java, but it does need a browser capable of rendering frames. It can be
used on a Web page to allow users to chat, or it can be used to access
chat from behind a firewall.

use.

format.

ffmpeg-php extension 0.4.1
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184016/

ffmpeg-php is an extension for PHP that adds an easy to use
object-oriented API for accessing and retrieving information from
movies and audio files. It has methods for returning frames from movie
files as images that can be manipulated using PHP's image functions.
This works well for automatically creating thumbnail images from movie
files, and it's fast enough to extract thumbnails on the fly so that
thumbnail images don't need to be stored. ffmpeg-php is also useful for
reporting the duration and bitrate of audio files (mp3, wma...).
ffmpeg-php can access many of the formats supported by ffmpeg.

displaying the RRDTool graphs.

jPortKnock 0.0.5
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184014/

Port knocking describes a method of establishing a connection to a
networked computer with no open port. Ports are opened with the use of
port knock sequences: a series of connection attempts to a series of
closed and logged ports. jPortKnock is an implementation of this
method.

Key Netplug 1.2.9
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184015/

Netplug is a Linux daemon that manages network interfaces in response
to network cables being plugged in and out. If you're familiar with
Windows XP, which just does the Right Thing when you plug an ethernet
cable into a laptop, netplug will need no further explanation.
Basically, netplug brings up an interface and runs a DHCP client when a
cable is plugged into that interface, and it brings the interface down
when the cable is unplugged. On a typical Linux system or laptop, you
have to run a command (such as "/sbin/ifup") manually to
handle these events, but netplug automates this for you.

anomalies. Anomolies can be defined by users with 'violations' files.
It differentiates between 'Active System Attacks', 'Security
Violations', and 'Unusual Activity', and is smart enough to remember
where in the log it stopped processing to improve efficiency. It can
also warn when log files shrink, and does not report errors when they
are rotated.

Make CD-ROM Recovery 0.8.4
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184048/

mkCDrec (Make CD-ROM Recovery) makes a bootable (El Torito) disaster
recovery image, including backups of the Linux system to one or more
CD-ROM(s) (multi-volume sets). Otherwise, the backups can be stored on
another disk, NFS/CIFS disk, or (remote) tape. After a disk crash or
system intrusion, the system can be booted from the CD-ROM and one can
restore the complete system as it was. It also features disk cloning,
which allows one to restore a disk to another disk (the destination
disk does not have to be of the same size, as it calculates the
partition layout itself). Currently, ext2, ext3, minix, MS-DOS, FAT,
VFAT, Reiserfs, XFS, and JFS filesystems are supported. It can restore
disks in Software RAID and LVM mode. It supports the One Button
Disaster Recovery (OBDR) mode, which simulates a bootable CD-ROM on
tape.

to be a faster, smaller, and less graphic alternative to otherwise
excellent discussion boards like phpBB, Invision Power Board, and

examine, and modify satellite orbits in two and three dimensions.
Simulations of Iridium, Teledesic, Globalstar, GPS, and other satellite
constellations are included. SaVi requires Tcl and Tk on a Unix system.
SaVi works well with the 3D renderer Geomview. Geomview is optional,
though recommended for its 3D rendering capabilities.

t-prot 1.48.1
http://freshmeat.net/releases/184021/

t-prot (TOFU Protection) is a filter which improves the readability of
email messages and Usenet posts by hiding some of their annoying parts.
The annoyances it handles include mailing list footers, signatures,
TOFU, sequences of blank lines, and repeated punctuation. TOFU is an
